Default Hard drives

I was just looking at harddrives, and this one in particular:

SeaGate 250 gig 7200rpm SATA-2 NCQ 16meg Cache 7200.9

I was wondering if SeaGate us a good brand and what is the difference between an 8meg ache and a 16

Seagate is the cream of the crop.

The cache allows the drive to have data held at ready so it can send this instantly, rather than having to look for it. A 16MB cache allows the drive to hold twice as much data at ready. Which is always better.

Ah ok

Is that the way RAID hard drives work? Do they have a massive cache or is it different?

RAID drives have special features that prevent drive dropout and timing errors.

Cache is memory onboard a hard drive that data can be quickly sent and later sent to the hard disk.
