I have a dell dimension 3100c and it has room for only one hard drive which is now full. Therefore I am going to buy a new hard drive and copy the contents from the old one to the new one. How would i copy a complete image from the old one to the new one as I think i can only plug one in at a time? I do however have a usb external enclosure for a ide drive but the drive in the computer and the drive I want to replace it with are sata drives. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

if both the old drive and the new drive are SATA, all you would need to do is just setup the new SATA harddrive, make sure the controller is enabled in BIOS given you have an extra SATA power connector available. Use Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image to clone the entire drive to the new drive

The problem is i only have one sata data connector on the motherboard. Do they take the same power cables as dvd drives as i have a splitter i think?
