hard drive question (noobish)

stupid question for ya'll

I have two WD 1tb caviars in my comp right now. . .one has windows installed on it and the other is just extra storage space. . .

I have two open bays that I would like to install -

another 1tb drive
a 300 gb raptor . . . I would like to run my OS and programs off of this drive

can a drive that is full of data all ready be unplugged from the power supply and motherboard and still retain its contents?

I will have to take out the hard drive in bay 1, which is a 1tb running my OS and programs. . .

blah blah, I hope you get what I am asking. . .anything I should be looking out for??

lol it won't lose it's data don't worry, if it did it would be called RAM

btw do you have enough storage?! jeez that heaps of space
