Default hard drive question

I have an emachine t2542 that has a fried mobo because of a bad power supply. I have an old IBM Aptiva laying around and was wondering if I swapped the hard drive from the emachine to the aptiva would it just recognize the new hardware and work?

depends, do you want to use it to boot windows or just for storage? if it is for windows then it isn't so simple but for storage provided you know how to install a hdd (master/slave settings IF it is an IDE drive) it will be fine

Yes I wanted it to boot windows not to use as a slave. How not so simple is it to do.

As long as its not Windows 2000 or XP, it will be easy. Otherwise you will need to do a repair install or a reinstall.
