My hard drive is getting a bit old (6 years) and I am now looking to upgrade.

I really don't know much about the newer versions and lingo.

I would like to keep the drive as quiet as possible.

Should I go for a 10,000 rpm with 16mb cache or 7,200 rpm with 32mb of cache?

Was thinking either the raptor or a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 .

What about Samsung, WD, etc?

Yes, gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l

Upgrading from a WD 7,200 sata3 8mb cache

Should I expect to see a major performance upgrade?
