Hey-
I'm looking to put together some kind of an external hard drive to house all of my movie files (ripped from DVDs that I own). Two things:
I was trying to decide on a hard drive, SATA II 3.0Gb/s 500GB drive looking to go as inexpensive as possible while maintaining quality - so probably ~ $150/hdd.
On newegg there were three: (all 149.99)
SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500 7H500F0 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000KS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
I have had good experiences with WD drives, but I was just inquiring, perhaps any of you have had specific experience with any of these.
The other thing: I'm looking for an enclosure to house these, preferably in a 1TB RAID0 setup. Could anyone suggest an enclosure to use? I seem to be unable to find one that's not ludicrously expensive (or is $150 actually what it costs?).
