You can do a clean install with that.

You won't find a COA sticker on new OEM pc's with windows 8 because they now use the bios to store your key. I don't see any reason that you should not be able to use an OEM version of windows 8, although it may require a call to your pc vendor or Microsoft

Wow! Could I use that key to do a clean install? And how could I get a copy of windows to install? Also, could I use that key to clean install windows 8.1 instead of installing windows 8 and updating to 8.1?

As far as how you'd install it... you'd need an OEM Win8 disc (not a retail one).

Not sure about direct install to 8.1.

Where do I get an OEM windows 8 disk?

If I install a new windows 8.1, can I get it to save the key in BIOS?

you can not use your Windows 8 key to install 8.1. You either have to purchase 8.1 or upgrade your existing Windows 8 to 8.1 using windows update. You must have your Windows 8 key to download the Windows 8 .ISO
