what are the benefits of having a hard drive that runs at 10,000rpm

10,000RPM drives have faster access times and most of them read and write faster than 7,200RPM.

I am quite against the 10k hdd for the average user. By all means if you haev a £10000 budget get one, but not until you have got the best of every other component is it really worth it.

a friend of mine has both a 7200RPM HD and a 10000RPM Raptor and there's a reasonably significant performance difference when accessing files
