Question gpu upgrade

I was looking to upgrade my current 4870 gpu to a 6850. It's my understanding that this actually draws less watts so the psu should be fine, but will the rest of my system handle it?

thanks,

Intel Q6600 @ 3Ghz
ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP
Corsair 550VX
250gb Seagate Barracuda
1Tb WD Caviar Green
2Tb WD Caviar Green
4gb DDR2 G.Skill 1066
XFX Radeon 4870

That should be no issue at all.

the motherboard says that it is pcie x16, not pcie 2.0 x16. Newegg.com - ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

will that mean the card wont throughput as much?

Yha, that won't even bother it at all. And cards are all Backwards cmpatible.

Funny enough, the difference between x8 and x16 speeds is 3 to 8 fps.
