GPU quick question

I know a lot of people go for the highest price on things. I am just wondering what is a graphics card that isn't outrageously expensive, but can still run just about everything on max settings. I know some of the newer ones just go above and beyond with some overkill stuff that an average gamer wouldn't ever use. Just need something that will play most games on max like I said, but if I have to turn down the graphics a little bit to play some of the more demanding games that will work to. Hopefully that makes sense.

GTX 560 Ti or HD 7850 is probably what you're looking for, they run from low to mid $200s.
