Well, for SLI you'll need a nForce motherboard. There's a rumor these aren't as overclockable as Intel P965 or 975X motherboards, which do not support SLI. They may support CrossFire with a future upgrade (or even hack), but it's uncertain.

If you want SLI, the best choice is probably the Asus P5N32-SLI (nForce 590).

In my opinion SLI/CrossFire isn't worth it, and there's a stickied thread about the pros/cons somewhere in the forum so that you can make your own mind.

If you chose to not have SLI, then there's the DS3, as we had considered, or the P5W DH, which has Intel 975X chipset, but it's more expensive. In my opinion, the P5W DH is the best Core 2 Duo board on the market. I read a review where they pushed a E6300 to 2.9Ghz on this board (that's 420Mhz FSB). No other board that I read about could do this.

EDIT: here's the review I was talking about. Give it a look. They also use Corsair DDR2 memory, so good choice.

Looking at that thread, I realize that SLI doesn't seem to help all that much. I'll get a DS3.

That's a good choice. I just found a review where they overclock a E6300 to 3.15Ghz! Better than the P5W DH, and for $100 less, not bad!

Go for it, man.

Huh? A E6300 is a processor and the P5W DH is a mobo..
Anyways everthing is compatable, I think. Now I just need to convince by dad to let me get the stuff off of Newegg instead of driving two hours to Frys..

Yes, of course, but Conroes have an amazing overclock potential, so most of the time the motherboard is the limiting factor (FSB speed and memory controllers), specially with the locked clock multiplier.

I'd say it's all compatible. Have fun assembling it!

Thanks alot for all the help, I just have one for question. Would it be better to go to Frys Electronics and buy this or just get it off of newegg?

Well, Newegg has a large reputation for providing good prices and being reliable on the delivery. If you can get similar prices at Frys, then there's really no difference. It's always safer to go get the parts yourself.
