ok.

so i have some small company here that is giving me a built up generic pc..i have a good western storage, sound card, video card

i use it only for business stuff, and internet

so what should i ask for in terms of

1. motherboard
2. ram

can someone give me specs for basic pc

thanks so much

Well you would want to go with a Pentium for multi-tasking and business stuff. 1GB of RAM would be nice, and as far as video cards go, if you don't have to do any image rendering or something, then go with a sturdy AGP card, 9600/6200/6600

dont be foolish. go pci-e no doubt. get a 6600GT, 1 gig ram, and a intel p4 with ht and 800mhz front side bus. nothing to extravagent and hell its on the company .

Wait, so they are asking you on what motherboard and RAM you want? Really for work stuff you don't need a good PC if you're just doing Excel and such. 512RAM and a any motherboard would be fine.

Unless you're doing computer graphics.

I mean, if they literally ask you what you want, and they'll buy it, you could tell them like 1gb RAM and a 6600gt and 3.0 Pentium 4, but that'd be kind of cheating them out...
