my old card is totally fried... i had it superclocked/volt modded and my liquid cooling leaked onto it. it was gimping along for a while but when i moved, it looks like it totally died. fan doesnt spin anymore.

the new card's fan spins and it gets hot like its computing something, but who know what.

no... i dont have any other cards.

i think my room mate's computer may have a pcie 16x slot/card on the mobo, i can see if the card i bought is good/see if his works in mine, that should narrow things down. i wont be able to check till late tonight if not tomorrow
