Gfx Card Question

Currently i am running a 7600gt, looking to upgrade to an 8800gts in the future. I am able to purchase two 6600gt's for 60 dollars total. Will running two 6600's in sli outperform the 7600gt or should i just wait till i can buy the 8800?
