Default General Use PC <$300

Hey,

I need to build a general use PC (mostly email, internet..NO GAMING) for some friends. My budget is around $300. I don't need any OS. I'm open to buying used parts already...

Anyone have some good suggestions of motherboards w/ on-board graphics?

Building a PC with that budget is pretty hard. Look for one of those cheap overstock prebuilt PCs.

If you're an overclocker/unlocker
You'll find the Sempron 140 quite accomodating, especially on this motherboard.
You may be able to unlock it to a dual core.

i think something like this could work, if you (or your friend) can spare an extra $20.

Newegg.com - Recertified: ASUS Essentio CM5570-AP002 Pentium E5300(2.60GHz) 6GB DDR2 640GB Intel GMA X4500 Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

$320 w/ free shipping.

comes with an e5200 dual-core, 6gigs of ram and a 640gb hdd. and i know you said you dont need an OS, but it does come with vista home premium.

Muffin,

Thanks for the link! I was looking at that too and might do that. I might just sell my friend my old PC for $400...

Is my old PC worth more than $400?? Here are specs:

AMD 4000+ OC'd to 2.8GHz Stable
OCZ 2GB RAM
2x 320gb Seagate HDs
ABIT AN8-SLI Fatality Motherboard
Windows 7 Ultimate w/ Office 2007
Nvidia 7900GTX Video Card
Antec 550W PSU

Seeing as how the build I posted could leave that build in the dust + costs 100$ less, I'd say no.

It is only worth whatever someone will pay you for it. If they are willing to give $400, then it is worth $400. there's no way you could sell that here for $400, though.

It would easily be worth $300 for the simple fact that it can handle (older) games. No pre-built with onboard graphics would be able to do that.

I'm just saying, if I can get a good deal by selling my old PC for $400 then I will do it. Thanks everyone for advice

PS: Let me know if you know anyone selling some cheap socket 939 parts or a pre-built comp
