Default GeForce 7900GS Vs. 8600GTS

NewEgg has both of these cards for around $140, according to the site the 7900 is not DX10 compatible, I thought the 7900's worked with DX10.

What card is the better choice for gaming? I know the best bet is to get one with DDR3 memory but I think they both have DDR3.

This is mostly for gaming so it's one of the most important items I am going to buy for my new build. I don't know much about ATI cards so if there is a better performing option around $120-$140 that works with DX10 please let me know.

Spend a couple bucks more and get a 1950 pro or xt.

X1950 would do the job.

What about the differences with the GeForce cards, anyone, know? I would like to get GeForce but I will take a look at the ATI cards too.

they are pretty similar but the 8600gts supports DX10
the x1950xt for $167 is a much better deal
significantly better than both of those cards
