But the x1600 has DDR memory, which sucks on a vCard.

If he is only going to play css then either card would work. My preference however, geforce7300 =]

its lame how his parents will only let him get a certain card.. are they shopping from newegg?

anyways, that x800gto someone recommended is also a good deal, better in fact!

Default Choice of 2 Graphic cards

The best out of the 2 you said he could choose from is the X1600 PRO ATI card.

Simple facts, its a faster card and the core speeds are very different. Also, a friend of mine just purchased that specfic card and it plays Battlfield 2 on full graphics with no slowdown which is certainly saying something.
