FPS issues(Need new purchase)

My desktop has started to fall off in the FPS department as of late.

Ive been meaning to upgrade for a while, I am just not sure as to what. Im not that into my hardware and dont really know where to start. Any help is appreciated.

My fps has been really bad and seems to be worse than it actually should be, I have updated drivers etc. So i'm guessing after 3+ years my pc is finally dying.

To note when i was looking at specs it said my current display mode was 1980x1080 (32bit) which seemed strange but I dont really understand it. it also closed when I tried to run 64 bit dxdiag

You can download a program called Hmonitor and check your temperatures.
if they are too high, yes you need to repaste your cpu and or video card.
all you are doing is reapplying the thermal paste that is between the cpu and the heatsink. over time it may have dried out.

The 480 is getting aged now, and your CPU is of bulldozer architecture which is.....bleh.

The culprit still being the 480. Take a look at this review. You'd be a tad over 560ti.

So your performance is right on par. This was also using a 3960x which is much faster than your current 6100. If you want to play this game go grab yourself a new GPU or deal with all lowest settings for acceptable FPS. If you're on a budget I suggest looking at the GTX 760. There is also a used 7970 available for $150 in the BST forum.

Just been out and got myself a GTX 760.

Got to say its boosted my performance massively.

I also found a mass amount of dust on my Graphics card which I imagine was not helping at all.
Gave everything a clear out and can run on high ranging from 28-60fps which is great.

Here's the page with the compatible CPUs. Looks like 95W is the max the board can handle, which would allow a 8370E, 8320E, or lower octa-core.

Well, that board isn't all that great honestly, BUT if you want to keep it you can go FX 6300 or FX 8320.

An 8320E is about £105, An FX6300 about 79.
