Audio chipset's work pretty good, the only advantage of a sound card is it uses it's own memory.

Your motherboard has 5.1CH audio, so you dont really need a sound card; its your choice.

The soundblaster X-Fi series is definately the best sound cards series for home entertainment there is, bar none. If you have an extra 100 bucks, go for the ExtremeMusic version. IT REALLY makes your speakers sound like beasts. On board, meh, sucks big time if your expectations on sound quality is high.

I'm going to check out the onboard and then make a decision after. I had altec lansing 610s on my old comp with onboard sound any was happy. Did anyone look at that power supply I want to go with?
