evga GeForce 7800GT - This is what I have now and I was planning on upgrading in a month or two, as soon as I get more money. McDonalds doesn't pay that well...
Is there anything I am missing that is essential to building a computer? I already have a monitor and speakers.

if i were you i would backtrack a bit and replace the motherboard and processor with a core 2 duo and compatible motherboard. a good place to start would be the e6600 and a Gigabyte 965p-ds3. it will cost a little more but you won't regret it.
