I am at work on my lunch hour and was bored so I decided to select parts for my computer. I think that I will be about to get a keyboard and mouse from some where for free so I didnt look at those. My budget is $1000. It will mostly be used for dvd burning, multi-tasking, and screwing around on the internet. I play some games but nothing that amazing. So probably just average- slightly above average graphics card will do since I might buy half-life 2 to play with my friend.

Since I am at work I was too lazy to put links in but I do have the item number (everything is from newegg) :

Case: N82E16811119068 $45
DVD Drive: N82E16827152058 $29
Hard Drive: N82E16822144392 $93
Processor: N82E1681903735 $150
Monitor: N82E16824254001 $185

Whatever else I am missing is because I am not sure what will be compatible and what not. Feel free to change anything and give suggestions on the other parts for my computer.

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW - $45
DVD Drive: NEC DVD+/-RW - $29
Hard Drive: Western Digital 320GB IDE - $93
Processor: AMD 64 X2 3800+ AM2 - $150
Monitor: Hanns·G JW-199DPB Black 19" :CD - $185

That has you sitting at $502 before shipping right now.... (you left a digit out of the CPU item #)... You don't have a motherboard, RAM, sound card or video card listed yet..

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 - $139
Memory: CORSAIR XMS2 1GB DDR2 800 - $154
Video Card: eVGA 7600 GT PCI Express x16 - $200 ($180 after mail in rebate)

I didn't list a sound card, cause that would push you overbudget, as the components above stand at $995 before shipping..... But, the motherboard does have onboard sound.

Good Luck with your build.
