I'm thinking about getting a FireWire 800 card to hook my external hard drive to, it is 1394b capable.
I have a PIII 866mhz and while I know the computer should be upgraded anyway, that's not an option at the moment.
I read that full 1394b speeds could only be reached on 64bit interfaces. I haven't seen anything that states what speeds can be reached on a 32bit card.
Does anyone know what speeds can be reached? If it 32bit is limited to 1394a speeds, then I'd probably just get a 1394a card. But if it is any higher than USB2.0 speeds, I'd get the 1394b.
Any input on this will be greatly appreciated.
