A Few Questions

so getting a 8000 series for the DirectX 10 capability is not really a buying point for my "girl"friend I suppose. But what about video capabilities, she wants to use the pc as a video recorder from her TV [I know seperate hardware is needed], will the 8600 be really needed, or a 7900 or 7600 will be sufficient...????

dx10 does squat atm most games out now don't support it dx10 is still for next-gen games and those games will n ot be playble at all on a 8500 or 8400 card very low fps on a 8600. Then you need a video capture card and nothing else, unless it is hd content then a 8500 would come in useful rather then desperately needed. A 7900 will be more then enough for gaming and will make a negligible difference to video playback
