Fatal errors when installing dvd player..

Im trying to install a dvd player on to my computer but I have 2 hard drives that i need to stay hooked up. When i use the other slot on the motherboard for the ribbon cable that i hook up to the dvd player i get a fatal error message.

Each of the IDE ports should be used for different things.

EX:
IDE:0
(master/boot)200GB HD
(slave)300GB HD
IDE 1:
(master)DVD-RW
(slave)DVD Player

How should i hook it up in order to run 2 hard drives and a dvd player?

I think ud use 1 IDE cable to hook the 2 hard drives up 1 master 1 slave and then a second IDE to hook the DVD drive by it self.

Dont use 1 IDE cable to hook up a hard drive then a dvd writer with it Use 2 seperate cables. Or at least I think thats right lol

That is what i did the 1st time and i got the fatal error messages. any other ideas?
