I recently ordered parts for a new pc I plan on overclocking, one of the suggestions I got from a friend of mine was to order a fan controller with temp probes to help monitor case temperatures.

Are these controllers worth getting? Are they accurate? and can they cause a fan failure that would endanger the system?

I wouldn't say they're worth it, really. Any parts you want to monitor the temps of have probes built internally (use a program like Hardware Monitor to read the info they give). I would only use a fan controller if my motherboard didn't have enough fan ports for all my fans.
