Fan came with new motherboard

Hey all, me and my buddy are down here building his new gaming rig (sli 285 gtx, 12 gig ddr3, core7 920), and we just got the motherboard put in, he has a massive (180 watt) fan that he is putting on to cool the cpu, but in the motherboard box came this little bag, with a U shaped fan and a packet of instructions, filled with warnings "For use in junction with passive cooler or water cooler only. Installing the optional fan with an active cpu cooler will interfere with internal cpu cooler airflow, and endanger cpu stability", the only other instructions are pictures showing a mounting of this fan over the copper heat sinks.

since he is putting on, what i am assuming is an active cooler, we should just disregard this fan as extra pieces right?

That would be correct...If you bought a aftermarket cooler thats all you will need!!

I've never used those personally. Stock cooler should be fine as long as you're not OCing
