I'm buying an external hard-drive because I need something better than my 120gb internal harddrive. And not to mention that its going 6 years already so I heard harddrives died and stuff.

What is a good harddrive to buy? Or does it really matter? I mainly used the space for working on my videos on Adobe Premiere Pro.

Searching newegg.com I found this 500gb harddrive for $123 Newegg.com - Beyond Micro BM500MD3U28M 500GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - Retail

ITs only USB 2.0 though as I heard firewire is faster.

Newegg.com - Fantom Titanium-II TFD500C16 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache USB 2.0 / IEEE 1394a External Hard Drive - Retail
Then there goes this 500gb harddrive for $160 with the USB 2.0 and Firewire connection. Is that $40 really worth it or not for the speed?

What is your budget for this??

My newfound favorite storage is NAS (Network Attached Storage). I have a DLink DNS-323 connected to my router, and it has two 500 Gig Seagate drives in it running in RAID1 (for redundancy). I got the drives for about $300 total on Black Friday, and picked up the NAS box for about $220 in January...

DNS-323 is $190 on newegg - Newegg.com - D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure RJ45, USB 2.0 - Retail
It is a BYOD box (Bring your own disk).

Then any ole SATA drive will work with it, capacity is 2 drives.

No matter what you end up doing, I suggest getting a Seagate hard drive. They are #1 in the industry, and ALL of their drives come with a 5 year warrenty.
