Default External Hard Drives

You guys got any favorite external hard drives? I've been looking at some Maxtor USB ..300 gb hard drives for like $160 on ebay with a cool case & a blue led light. I don't want any fancy wireless ones or anything.. just wanna back up all my stuff. Let me know if you have any suggestions.. thanks.

most people on this forum do not like maxtor drives. some will reccomend them but most will say western digital or seagate. i myself say western digital. it is cheaper to make your own external hdd. all you need is a "external enclosure" and a standard hdd. all you have to do is make sure you get the right enclosure for the hdd and it is just a matter of putting it in the case and connecting 2 plugs.
