The time has come where I am quite fed up of not owning an external hard drive. I suppose i am looking to spend around £50 ($100).

The main site i use is Novatech, they have two drives for that price
Novatech Ndisk 3500 160Gb 8Mb Cache 3.5" SATA External USB Hard Drive : nov-nd3160
250Gb Western Digital My Book Essential USB2 7200rpm External Hard Drive : wd-mbe25

Why is the Western Digital one so cheap considering it is much bigger than the Novatech one? Are these good value for money?

Any advice would be great, thanks!

I would recommend the Western Digital. You can't really go wrong with one. I know a few people with a MyBook and have had no problems.

Thanks a lot, i was leaning towards that due to its capacity and that it was a know name.

Thanks for the reply!

Is it possible to get any external hard drives that don't need an external power supply? (sorry if that's a ridiculous question)

Ah, that is very neat, thanks for finding it for me.

Unfortunately i don't believe it's worth the extra cash. I'll stick with the standard one.
