Alright, So my current computer is a piece of garbage. I'm well aware of that. I built it in a hurry on a super tight budget almost two years ago. But the time has come that I have no choice but to upgrade the video card.

I'm wanting to put the 5870 in my existing build, and then just swap it into a better computer in a few months.

But as I already mentioned, this thing is a piece of garbage. So what's going to happen, assuming I have the power supply to put out enough juice?

Cause if all it means is my FPS is limited to whatever my processor can handle, I'm fine with that. I just don't want to burn something out.

assuming that you have a sufficient psu to handle a 5870 and enough space in your case for it (because its like 1ft long), its probably going to be bottlenecked by your current cpu, but nothing should blow up or anything like that.

just dont cheap out on the psu.
