Default DX9 problem... maybe?

ok I just got Need For Speed Carbon for my PC and when i tried to load it up it said this. "This installation cannot continue because this game requires DirectX 0 or higher to be installed on your system. You can download the latest version of directX here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx"

so I went to the website and downloaded what it told me and to make sure it worked i tried it again and got this. and I tried the game again and it still didn't work, so i figured it was the game so i took it back and exchanged it and now I am getting the same thing with the new game. any idea what I can do?

Ya, this kind of thing use to happen to me but did you try reinstalling it? and if that doesn't i dont know really how i fixed ir haha but try that sorry hope it works.

what video card do you have? and what drivers is it running?

I have a ATI X1900GT, I dunno what drivers I have how can I check? I can't reinstall it I haven't installed it yet

I got my drivers off ATIs web site if that helps any

Default

Try and update the video drivers from ATI's website. If that doesn't work try a system file checker scan.
