Default DVD-ROM Question

The owners manual to my ProStar 3100C laptop states that a Cd- DVD-ROM that measures something like 12.77mm can replace the Cd -ROM. But, I can't seem to find a DVD-ROM for that exact model.

My questions are; are there any universal DVD-ROM's?

Do they just have to meet the requirments of the 12.77 measurment?

I went to the site but it was only the home page of a pc supply store. I still have the same 2 questions though. Are they all pretty much universal for a laptop and if they are then is the size what you are trying to match up?

Does the manufacturer have a website or anything? Or does the owners manual provide contact info? Probably go that route like schulz269 said.

several different companies market this exact laptop. Kapok, Clevo, Sagar and Prostar are some of them. The laptops are exactly the same from 1 company to the next. I've checked the company website for each one of them but none of them offer a DVD-ROM for sale.

The owners manual just states that a 12.7mm CD- DVD-ROM can replace the cd-rom. That makes me wonder if many of them are universal.
