I have a DVD writer drive mounted in a custom box which I use as a dock for my laptop - i.e, I plug in two usb cables and I have a dvd drive, extra HDD, bluetooth, printer, external speakers, IR remote, wireless keyboard and mouse etc, effectively turning it into a desktop (once I plug my tft in).
Therefore, when my laptop isn't plugged in, I can't use the DVD drive to play audio CD's, which I would like. The drive is powered on all the time and there are Audio out pins on the back, so I could put the CDs in, but there isn't a play button on the front to get things started (you remember them CD drives with play buttons and headphone jacks on the front don't you? whatever happened to them?).
So I'm either looking for a DVD writer drive with a play/skip button on the front, or a way of modding my existing drive to get it to play audio cds. Any recommendations?
Cheers, craig
