Default DVD Drive Installation issues

I have an older LG DVD 16x read-only drive and I installed it last night.

What I did was hook it into the Slave part of the IDE cable that my CD Burner is hooked into. When I boot the drive appears to work, like I can open and close it and such. The problem is, though, when I go to access it, there is a single drive D that says it is a CD/DVD drive and refuses to read and write anything. The Cd and DVD drives are seprate but the machine think's it is a single drive. Could this have to do with the drives running on the same cable? Please help.

Well unfortunately there is no infromation for what orders the jumpers should be in for different modes but it is set like this...

Basically the jumper is in the middle of three positions. If the jumper settings are the same for most drives then knowing where to set them would be helpful.

Thank you
