DVD drive busted, fix or buy new one?

Hey, i brought a game called fifa manager 07 earlier, i put the cd in and nothing happened. My dvd-rw drive cannot detect the disc. No idea why, it can detect fifa manager 06

I tired the disc on another comp and it worked fine.

I was thinking of buying an external dvd-rw drive.

Thats the one iv seen, the reason im getting it from there is because i want it ASAP and that shop is just down the road from me.

That will play Pc games fine right?

Also, if anyone has any idea how to fix my current DVD drive then plz post how. I have found some updated firmware and downloaded it but still no luck.

My current dvd-rw drive is Aopen com5232/AAH PRO

have you tried any other disks in it as well as the game? they are cheap enough now that it would probalby be easier to buy another one...

Yea, i think im just gunna buy a new one.

The external one in the link i posted in the first post, is that any gd?

also, with an external dvd-rw drive, do u have to remove the internal one? and for the external one is it as straight forward as plug and play? Just connect the Usb, put in the cd and bang ur away?
