i have seen the option to get dual grafx cards on new PC's. My question is this: what is the benifiet or purpose of haveing 2 gfx cards?

are they for 2 seperate monitors?
do they link to allow for better acceleration for one monitor?
would it be a waste to get 2 cards if i only use one monitor for gaming?

what is the purpose for 2 cards?

thank you

They just increase performance. Personally since my computer is SLI ready, when the new 8900GTX's come out, I'll just buy a new 8800 GTX and put it in my computer to get up there near that performance. 1 new good card is all you need right now SLI isn't really as great as it's made up to be.

But an easy way to understand it, think of the performance of one video card, now you buy one more exactly the same, add like a 40% performance increase to that.

thing is im going thru Dell. and that is one of the option im not sure about. i believe its all sli. im a heavy gamer and dig the performance but havent messed with the insides since i built mine years ago. so is it worth it for Dual.

any suggestions on ome one other than Dell? that doesnt have a bad reputaion?
