I built my computer a couple months ago and it's running great, but at the time I ran a little short on cash, and instead of getting the workstation graphics card I wanted (QuadroFX 1800) I instead got a gaming card (GeForce 9800 GTX+) that would sorta work as a placeholder until I could get more money.
So now I've got the cash to upgrade, I'm wondering if I should still go ahead and buy the Quadro FX and just use it, or if it would actually be better to get another 9800 and use two cards.
I know that gaming cards are more unstable than workstation cards when rendering with 3D (for work with maya, zbrush, CAD, those sort of things) but the 9800 card is cheaper, and I wasn't sure if the extra boost would make up for the loss and save me money or not.
Here are the specs of the computer as it sits at my desk:
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 140W Quad-Core Processor Model HDZ965FBGIBOX

EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
