Default does this dvd drive play dvds?

DVD burners will do the same as a DVD-ROM, just like a CD burner will do the same as a CD-ROM. If it doesn't read DVD's...than something is really wrong with it...

It's an external drive, so it will probably use USB or something.

so i can have it plugged in, so it stays like on my desk? that would be nice, cuz i dont wanna open the computer

yeah, but the problem with that is that u must always have it on a flat surface the whole time (cant be on an angle)

Yes. Although I don't know what interface it uses.
You should check the Memorex website. Also read as many reviews as possible, before ordering.

Most optical drives work fine in a 90 degree angle. So it will probably work in any angle, probably even upside down. But don't move it while it is working.
