Hello!

Building my second computer, the first one I built a year ago went without hitches but this time I've had hassle.

Something must be DOA, plugged everything in and can't get the BIOS screen up or nothing.

It's either the CPU or mobo that is faulty, I checked the pins on the mobo and they look fine.

Can anybody help?

Do you get any beeps when you boot up? Does your pc post?
If neither of these is the case it's most likely the motherboard.
Have you tested the psu at all? Make sure all of your power and cpu fan connections are correct.

No beeps, nothing. I've tested everything on my system and have narrowed the problem down to either my CPU or Motherboard.

A strange thing happened though - whenever I attach my old HD to the system there's activity inside the HD, but if I attach a new HD there's no activity.

In my experience there's almost always an error message if the cpu is faulty so I'm thinking it's your motherboard.
So when you power it up it's just a black screen, right? Nothing else happens?
The fact that it's accessing your hd also suports your cpu being okay because it's sending instructions one way or the other.
