Default Do I need new video card?

I recently built a budget HTPC based on info I got here. It works great and I thank you.
I ended up with this card
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
Initially, I wanted it only for the audio server and surfing the net capabilities. Now I am thinking of maybe playing some games on it on my new HD projector.
My question is, do I need to get a new video card to play games like Halo or WOW?
If so, do I need a new PSU? I have a 450W sunbeam currently.
If I need a new card, I wanted to try and stay around $75 or so.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Pat

The motherboard you have there, has an onboard GeForce 6100 graphics chipset. Which ok for light gaming. But to play Halo or WoW, you might need something a little more, to make it more playable. For around $75, I'll suggest:

Either the 7300GT:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GV-NX73T256P-RH GeForce 7300GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

or the 7600GT, if you can expand your budget a little more. The 7600GT is a much better choice:
Newegg.com - EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

Thanks much. That second one looks intriguing. It even has a rebate, making it $80. I may go for that.

Will my PSU do for that card?

Is there any harm in trying Halo on my current card first or is likely to lock up or something?

Thanks,

Pat

Theres no harm in trying Halo, on that onboard. It might play.

Those graphic cards aren't power hungry, so I'd say the power supply is more than enough power.

The original Halo might do fine on the 6100 chipset. Halo 2 .. probably not. I believe that requires Windows Vista as well anyway. I'd opt for the 7600 GT if at all possible. Take a visit to Tom's Hardware VGA charts to get an idea of the difference.

Yeah in order to play games well on an HD resolution you'd want a graphics card. The 7600gt is a steal at $80 as far as I'm concerned. That will do very nicely for WoW and Halo, plus the games you'll want to play in the future as well.
