Default Which Desktop?? Help!

Hi guys,
Looking to get a new desktop on Boxing day, and was considering 2 choices:
HP Elite HPE-421f i&-870 Processor and 21.5" LCD Monitor for $950CAD
or
Gateway DX4840-15c i5 650 Processor (FS model slightly different than the model displayed in link, and has 6GB RAM, and Radeon HD5570 for $800CAD (no monitor).

My questions are:
How does HP compare to Gateway in terms of quality?
Wich desktop would you choose?

Many thanks, and Happy Holidays!

You're gonna get a ton of people saying BUILD BUI;LD BUILD.... BUT my question is.... What are you doing it?

The main difference is the chip obviously... I'd probably cheap out abit and go the gateway....

Btw the hp has a built in wifi adaptor.......

I don't have the time to build my own, or I would (hopefully that is enough to prevent a bunch of 'build your own' suggestions!).

I would be using it for some moderate gaming (COD:BO, DOWII, SCII, and whatnot) so I wanted something moderately powerful that can handle mm normal daily tasks along with tthe stress of some gaming!

The gateway has a built in adapter as well. The HP comes with a 21.5" LCD monitor as well, which is probably worth the $150 difference (otherwise i'd be looking at about $200 for an LED monitor to go with the Gateway). The price balances out to roughly the same, with the main difference being the i5 vs i7 processors. Construction and hardware quality is more of an interest for me, as I don't want the thing causing me any problems any time soon!

The i7 is HT so it'd be the better deal of the 2.

My worry is crappy cases... but with a locked bios who cares.
