Ok this seems to be the best deal I can find that would still be able to run most anything fairly well.

This is in CAD and I will not have to pay shipping. I plan on probably adiing a 7300 GS I pick up off Ebay for cheap as well.

Only weird thing I noticed is that apparently this has a Athlon XP-M 3100 processor in it..isnt this a laptop processor? Are there any implications that come along with this? Also it has a PCI-E 16x slot on the mobo...im not complaining but is this not strange?

Thoughts?

I guess, my question is what is your budget. I shy away from buying computers online. Parts i'm ok with, as long as they are new. but fully built comptuers? I had a friend buy one on ebay, it took him 6 months for the seller to acturally follow up with their warranty/support. basically the system crashed all the time, and it was just a big hassle. He finally ended up getting it shipped back to the person and getting it fixed, after him and I spent countless hours trying to figure it out. adn shipping a comptuer isn't cheap....

I would reconsider buying from ebay, but it depends on your budget. I can look around some, but need to know a price range.

-----EDIT--------
Looking around, here are a few that are in the same price area.

for $399 + ship, and before you think thats too high. let me say a few things.
1) this computer already has an OS, the ebay one does not.
2) Operating systems can be expensive aprox $140.
3) this one has a Athlon 64 CPU instead of an Athlon XP
4) this one is slightly faster at 3400 instead of 3100
5) the hard drive is 200Gbs instead of the 80.
6) You will get tiger direct and eMachines support behind this one, not just a person on ebay.

among other reasons I didn't list.

Sorry, that one was for the united states website.

this is anotherone, basically the same, 3500+, and its a gateway, but its $420, bit it is in Canada.

Again, i do not know your price range.

If you don't want to pay that much, the Sempron processors are cheaper.

Thanks for your help. Only thing is its refurbished and I believe I can get the same thing cheaper at factory direct.

From what I understand seprons are basically equivalent to athlon xp so this is a good deal but refurbished and I would need to pay shipping costs. Im open to ideas.

My budget is basically 350$ I guess. I mean for 500 I can go dual core and 700-900 a decent conroe so...

Im just looking for something very cheap but funtional that will tide me over for a year then I will buy a whole new conroe based monster :) (unless amd pulls somthing off)

Im also looking for a cheap video card preferably one that supports dual monitors and is under 60$ ....asking too much ??lol

i guess its juggling a refurbished that has a very profitable company behind it, (eMachines/Gateway), or someone who is selling them on ebay.

biggest things I noticed are that the cpu and motherboard for the ebay one are not combatable. the laptop will not fit in a full sized, unless the S754 is a laptop cpu, and there was no operating system.

But then my friend didnt' have a good experience with an ebay machine.

its always cost vs quality....

as for a video card under 60 that supports two,
here is one, for AGP

and one for PCIe x16
