what are some specifications on these that make them good? my money is running low so I am thinking of picking up a cheap one till I save up some more but I don't know any statistics on them.

A CRT wouldn't really be the way to go. You can get an LCD cheap enough now anyhow. What's your price range?

I like CRT personally, if you can afford the desk space.

Just pick up whatever looks best to you, you can get a big 20 inch used one for like $50 now.
