Default CPU compatibility question

Hello
I am looking at building a computer with minimal specifications and then slowly upgrade it as my need grows.
I was wondering, if a motherboard supports the Quad core, the Core 2 Duo, and a "Pentium", will that motherboard also support a "Pentium D"? And if a board similar supporting those possessors but also supports a "Celeron", will that board support a "Celeron D"? Or a "Celeron DC"?

Thanks

When you goto look the boards will state all compatible processors.

So in other words just because it says it supports the Pentium (As well as the Core 2 Duo a dual core CPU) It won't also support the Pentium D? (Also a Dual core CPU.)

Like this motherboard for example: Newegg.com - ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
It says it supports "Quad-core / Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium"
So it will support a Quad core Extreme CPU but it can't support the Pentium D even though it also supports the Pentium 4?

I would assume it can support pentium D's since it says pentium dual core processors.
" Support Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme/Duo/Quad processors with 1333/1066/800MHz FSB
- Support Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme/Quad/Duo & Pentium® Dual Core Processors
"

Universal abit USA - Products

Pentium Dual Core and Pentium D are two completely different processors. The Pentium Dual Core is a Core 2 Duo(Allendale core) with less L2 cache while the Pentium D is a dual core processor based on the outdated Netburst architecture (Smithfield or Presler core). Just because the motherboard supports Pentium Dual Cores does not mean Pentium D's will work.
