Default Which CPU is best for me and compatible

Current MOBO is a ECS 945GCT-m3. I'm looking for a new CPU because mine is simply way out of date. Heres my current specs. Price wise maybe someone can make a list of a wide range thats worth the money. Thanks in advance.

CPU - Intel Celeron 420 1.6Ghz
Mobo - Elitegroup ECS 945GCT-m3
GPU - HD Radeon 4670
RAM - Gskill 2 x 1gb ddr2

isn't that subjective?
in my humble opinion a Tesla Roadster is not worth the US $109,000 price tag. however, someone else might think its worth the money.

if you are buying new, I'd suggest the Intel Pentium E5xxx line.
or if you can spare ~300, I'd suggest you replace the cpu, board and memory altogether.

Ok well im only using this pc for video editing and i play a little css every now and then. I figured that i could upgrade it a little and it would be ok. $300 doesn't sound bad at all though. What would you suggest?

Ok thanks for the info, another question if u don't mind, my mobo's website says it can only hold 2 x1gb sticks of ram. Has anyone ever put over the amount specified by the manual? Would i be able to do so?

He will unless his previous build used the Retail version of Windows.
