A Couple of Build Questions

I am building a desktop for gaming and photo editing. Here's the parts:

I would like to go with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, but will probably settle with 4GB for now.

Sound: I will not be getting a sound card for the short-term, but will sometime in the future as $$$ allows. I will just be using some normal desktop speakers in the mean time.

I am going to stick with the ASUS P6T Deluxe with the i7-960. I do not know much about overclocking, and don't mind spending the extra money.

Still trying to decide on a case. Will full size be better than mid size since I am using the ATI 5850?

real quick as I do not have much time.

No to the i7 960. go 920 or 930 as the 960 is a waste of money.

Do not get a gtx285 w/dx10 wither get a 5870 or wait until the new nvidia cards become available.

1366 boards need triple channel ram so go for 6gb 3x2gb. get ddr3 1600.

heatsink sumbean core contact 120 for value true 120 or magehelams for performance.

And I agree with Hefe, go with the 920 or 930 and the 5870

As for the heatsink, do you plan on overclocking? Maybe in the future? Do you mind buying a heatsink from a shop other than NewEgg? NewEgg doesn't have the best selection of Heatsinks.

I say NO to the caviar green as a primary drive.
Get a caviar blue or caviar black instead.
Caviar Black for performance.
Caviar Blue for reliability/value.

I agree w/ everybody here.

As for case, its all about your personal taste. Since you're getting a big video card i suggest getting a full tower case because it'll be easier to work with and it'll provide better airflow (but you could get a small case and still be good).

And don't forget you'll also need a Power Supply. You'll need a good one to power a high-end card, and you should get one with extra juice just in case you go crossfire/SLI in the future. Also think about modular PSUs for easy wire management. A couple of good ones:
