Is it worth the extra cash to go for this or is the quad core just as good? and does the i5 work with most intel motherboards?

i5 chip requires 1156 socket. Core 2 quad's still use the 775 socket.

I really can't answer how much better an i5 is.

which core i5 are you talking about? because there are dual cores and a quad core.

what do you mean? like can you just drop it into any intel mobo? no you cant. the i5 (whether a dual or quad) uses an 1156 socket, so youd need a mobo with that socket.

I never realised that you get a dual and quad i5 but if I can afford it will make sure the mobo has a 1156 socket for support.

Yep, is there a huge difference performance wise over the quad versus the dual core i5? Im not sure if I can afford the quad core.
