Default convert internal sata hard drive to external usb

hi people i would like to know if it's possible to connect an internal sata hard disk to an external usb casing for the purpose of creating an external hard drive? if so where could i get one from?

my problem is that i was infected with a virus on my hard drive's restore folder, in which kaspersky dealt with fine by placing it in quarantine but i deleted the backup, :freak: then i found out i couldn't boot to windows xp after it, i tried to recover xp but it didn't work , so now my only solution is to try to access the hard disk through the external usb to recover all my files from a different computer, do you think i would be able to access my files in this way?

is there a simpler way of getting my files?

thanks in advance to any response:happy:

Yes, it is possible. You would need to buy an external HDD enclosure. Yes, putting the HDD in an enclosure will let you access the files. - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

My computer uses 1.5A-load, .8A-idle, .65A-standby, .05A-turned off on 125V.

thanks for the response and for the link

i live in the uk, i found this ide/sata usb enclose
eSATA and USB 2.0 Combo Enclosure for IDE & SATA 3.5" Hard Drive [ NLHD-29 ] - kenable - for cables, networking and peripherals

i think this would work with my hard disk, i have a 160GB sata hard disk, the enclose also can be used for ide hard disks? this would be great for me since i also have a 320GB ide hard disk

what do you think of this enclosure?

thanks in advance
