Default Connecting an External HD to network possible?

Is there a way to connect a USB External Hard Drive to the network without plugging it into a computers USB?

there are some external enclosures with network support i believe. google and if you find a product try and find a retailer that you can buy it from

That is what the school has just brought 2 lovely terrerbytes for us to fill up with my home made movies. They have 7 servers and the drive server but make sure you are sitting down for the price (of a normal one as well.)

It seems linksys has exactly what I was looking for at $80 (from their site):

"Link for USB 2.0 Disk Drives which connects USB 1.1 or 2.0 disk drives and flash disks directly to your network. Just plug it directly into your 10/100 Ethernet network, and attach your USB 2.0 hard drives or flash disk. It can self-configure to your network via DHCP"
