The audigy 2zs platinum sound card.

Get the Nforce 4 Ultra (uses 1ghtz FSB yours has 800mhtz FSB)

480w is overkill, all you need is a 350w antec.

For 1k surely you could get a 6800GT and at least a 3200+ processor? And yea, the hard drive sucks ass..

I have an XFX card because it was really cheap. But now the fan is randomly making wierd noises after 2 1/2 years. It may be going dead but its not that bad. Its just the fan.

I just bought an XFX...... And everyone says that "XFX cards come DOA"

Well i could give 2 sh!ts if it was DOA with a 2 year MANUF. Warranty backing me up....... :p

I got a couple hints.

1) Use valueRAM with a lifetime warranty, unless you are overclocking. It doesnt make sense to get "performance" series ram unless you intend on overclocking.

2) I would get a SATA Seagate or Western Digital HD. They have built a better reputation for quality and longevity.

3) I would stay with a 400W or bigger PSU, especially if you go with a no-name PSU. That way, you can leave a little room for upgrades later.

can you show me a setup that's going to pull that off.

Just a couple of things:

1) I agree about the HD, I would go with Western Digital, I have used them alot and never had a problem.

2) I also agree that you should stay with atleast a 400W PSU, preferably bigger, it is not overkill at all, even though it says 400W you are not getting all 400W's and if you are some of it is dirty power. Also since your building your own computer if you ever need to upgrade to newer hardware you will have enough power. I suggest Antec Neo power, but thats just my opinion.

3) I would go with atleast the 6800GT, I bought a 6600GT about 7 months ago and wish I would have gotten a 6800. My 6600GT is already being outpaced and overworked. As far as the Brand, I say as long as they have a good warranty and customer service, it doesn't make a huge difference.

The comment on the XFX cards come DOA is probably somewhat true, but then it is true for all companies, I have had eVGA, PNY, Chaintech, BFG, and XFX cards before and I have gotten atleast 1 DOA or Bad card from each of them.

4) I would also consider getting the new Sound Blaster X-Fi, especially if you are getting 7.1 speakers
